tonight. last night when we were kcoverig the shooting in newtown, connecticut, people were fraudulently trying to capitalize. tonight a woman has been arrested in connection with one of those alleged scams. drew will join me with the details in a moment. first here's houf we got to this point. last week the uncle of 6-year-old noah told anderson there were fake web site, facebook pages and e-mails going around asking for donations in noah's name. drew griffin and david fitzpatrick tracked one of those e-mails to the bronx and went to her house. here is what happened next. >> hi. are you ms. alba? you set up donations on behalf of the newtown tragedy? >> no. >> here is your name and address on the e-mail. >> alba eventually agreed to let her voice be recorded and denied she had anything to do with the e-mail having to do with donations. >> this has your e-mail on it right there. there is about noah pozner's e-mail, it gives your paypal account, the bank routing number -- >> that's not my paypal account. i have a paypal account -- is that your e-mail? >> which one? >> it says right there.

dishonesty. never more important than tonight. last week covering the shooting in newtown, anderson learned something that made us all sick to our stomach that people were trying to capitalize on the tragedy, fraudulently trying to capitalize on the victims' families. thanks to reporting by anderson, drew griffin and producer david fitzpatrick, tonight a woman has been arrested in connection with one of those alleged scams. drew will join me with the details in a moment. first here's how we got to this point. last week the uncle of 6-year-old noah pozner who was among the 20 children killed at sandy hook elementary told anderson there were fake websites, facebook pages and e maims going around asking for donations in noah's name. drew griffin and david fitzpatrick tracked one of those e-mails to a woman in the bronx and went to her house. her name is noah alba. here is what happened next. >> hi. are you ms. alba? you set up donations on behalf of one of the victims of the newtown tragedy. no? here is your name and address on the e-mail. can i come in with a camera crew? no. >> she eventuall

't at peared in public in more than two years. >>> so many gifts have poured into newtown, connecticut, that officials are now asking people to stop sending them. at least for now. newtown has been swamped with things like toys, flowers and school supplies ever since the school shootings. community leaders say they're grateful for the support and they will talk about best ways to help the town very soon. >>> just about 19 after the hour. we're going to give you early reads, the local news making national headlines. we begin with a story from arizona where in the wake of the newtown killings, the states attorney general is proposing a plan to arm one educator in each school. under that plan, each public school would designate a person, either a principal or teacher to keep the gun in a secured, locked location. it would be a voluntary program. the attorney general says state law would need to be amended before that plan could move forward. >>> and happy new year chicago. beginning january 1st, chicago's parking meters will be the most expensive in north america. a 75 cents jump doesn't

of the newtown shootings." >>> and now that senator john kerry has been nominated for secretary of state, the focus is shifting to his potential replacement in massachusetts. senator scott brown, who was defeated last month by elizabeth warren, appears to be the clear choice for republicans. a poll conducted before the selection of kerry found brown dominating the field. the wbur poll also shows the senator topping any democrat by eight points. brown is yet to say whether he plans to run in the special election. as for the democrats, it's only clear who's not running right now. ted kennedy jr. was floated as a possible contender, but he says he's not interested. kennedy said he was grateful for the offers of support, but he considers connecticut to be his home, leaving the door open for a potential future run in that state. and actor and director ben affleck isn't ready to leave hollywood. the "argo" star, who had showed interest in politics, confirms he doesn't want kerry's seat, saying "i love massachusetts and our political process, but i am not running for office." >>> former preside
